Devyn & McCrae’s Engagement: A Beautiful Surprise in Downtown Gruene
There are certain friendships that blossom unexpectedly, and mine with Devyn is one of those treasures. Our families first met through the RV lifestyle, both of us embracing the adventure of full-time RV living for the past year and a half. It wasn’t easy getting to know Devyn and McCrae at first—they were always on the move, living life to the fullest. But when we did manage to spend time together, it was clear that our connection was something special.
Devyn and I clicked right away. She has this infectious energy, an amazing heart, and a sense of humor that makes every conversation a joy. Even though it took forever for our friendship to truly flourish due to our busy lives, once we met McCrae and they were home more often, we became fast friends.
Even after Devyn moved a little further away, our bond grew stronger. So when McCrae approached me with the idea of proposing, there was no question—James and I were all in. We quickly concocted a plan to disguise the proposal as a last-minute styled shoot, with the excuse that a client had dropped out. The timing was perfect; just a week before, McCrae had jokingly said, “If you ever need a model, I’m there.”
We met in downtown Gruene, the historic charm of Gruene Hall setting the perfect scene. As we wandered around, taking photos, the anticipation built. And then, in a moment that still brings tears to my eyes, McCrae got down on one knee. Watching these two beautiful souls commit to a lifetime together was pure joy, and I couldn’t be happier for them.
Our amazing friend Melissa even helped watch our little ones so that we could be fully present to witness Devyn’s reaction. It was a moment filled with love, happiness, and the kind of joy that comes from seeing two people who are meant to be together take such an important step.
Devyn and McCrae are those rare friends who are always there for their people, no matter what. They work incredibly hard, constantly striving to be better and to create a beautiful life together. We are beyond thrilled that we got to be a part of their engagement, and we can’t wait to celebrate at their bachelor and bachelorette parties, and most importantly, to watch them exchange their vows.
We’re so lucky to have Devyn and McCrae in our lives, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for these two amazing people.
