Desert Dreams: Capturing the Anticipation and Joy of Ally and Wes’s Maternity Journey
My recent trip from San Antonio to Las Vegas for a maternity shoot with Ally and Wes was nothing short of magical. The day began early, with my flight landing at 7:30 AM, and from there, we set off to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Mt. Charleston and the Red Rock Mountains. We were on a mission to find the perfect spot to capture the beauty of this special time in their lives.
We stumbled upon a charming little creek, where we couldn’t resist playing in the water, and as we wandered through the stunning scenery, we were lucky enough to spot wild donkeys. As the day unfolded, we shared so many laughs, making memories that I’ll hold dear forever. And then, as if the day hadn’t been perfect enough, we were treated to a truly spectacular sunset. The sky was painted with hues of pink, orange, and purple, creating the most beautiful backdrop for their photos. The golden light seemed to dance around Ally and Wes, capturing the love and excitement they have for their soon-to-arrive baby, Milo.
As night fell, we danced under the moonlight and cruised down the Vegas strip, soaking in every moment. We indulged in delicious food throughout the day, and of course, we had to stop for some rolled ice cream—because what’s a day of adventure without a sweet treat?
When I first met Ally, we instantly bonded over our love for photography, spending time in the water, and our shared passion for Italian culture. So when she told me she was pregnant, I couldn’t hold back the tears—I was overwhelmed with happiness for them. Ally and Wes are so perfectly suited to be parents, and I feel incredibly honored to have been a part of this beautiful chapter in their lives. Even though they’ve moved far away (which, I have to admit, I’m still a little sad about), our friendship is something I’ll always treasure.
Maternity photography holds a special place in my heart. It’s such a privilege to spend time with parents who are filled with love and anticipation for their little one. The connection they already have with their baby, even before meeting him, is something truly beautiful to witness. I’m so grateful to have been able to capture the joy and excitement that Ally and Wes feel as they await the arrival of baby Milo. This shoot was a reminder of why I love what I do—the laughs, the love, and the incredible moments that make life so special.

This was a special treat for this Grandma DiD and Grandpa Marty which helps us be able to feel close to our brand new little family even though we’re miles away.
